Chapter 1-3

- Jonas thought frightened meant that deep, sick feeling of something terrible about to happen.
- He got a sick felling when something bad was going to happen.
- He knew it was aganst the rules for pilots to fly over the community.
- And the beggining they had everybody go into the hevest building and stay there because they knew something bad was going to happen.
A pilot-in-trainning had misread his navigatinoail instuction and made a wrong turn.

Chapter 3-6

- Almost every citizen in the communtiy had dark eyes.
- All Jonas' friends had dark eyes too and their mother and father.
- It says everbody had dark eyes and they said it mean depth.
- They have a new child with dark eyes too.
- Jones noticed some about Lily that something was wrong with something.
- Alexis.

Chapter 6-8

- Jonas attends The Ceremony of Twelve.
- Jonas is Nineteen, because he had been the nineteenth new-child born that year.
- Jonas's full nnumber was Eleven-nineteen, since there were other Nineteens in each age group.
- The initial speech at the Ceremony of Twelve was made by the Cheif Elder, the leader of the Community who was elected every 10 years.
- Jonas was worried and started to panic because they skipped his name.

Chapter 8-10

- The Chief Elder appologizes to the community and to Jonas for making the mistake of skipping Jonas' name and making him worried.
- The Chief Elder tells Jonas that he had been selected to be the community's next Receiver of Memory.
- The Chief Elder explains to the community and to Jonas why exactly did he get chosen to be the next Receiver of Memory and the responsibilities.
- Everyone congratulates Jonas for being the next Receiver of Memory.
- Jonas is given a list of rules for the Receiver of Memory, looks at them and reviews them.

Chapter 10-12

- Jonas goes to his first day of training.
- Jonas meets the Giver.
- They both have a talk, mainly about how from that day forward Jonas is the new Receiver of Memory and what the job is all about.
- The Giver transmits the memory of snow to Jonas by putting his hands on Jonas' back.
- Jonas goes to this "other world" where he learns what snow, sleds, hills, and runners are, even though he knows he's really inside the Annex room with the Giver.
- The Giver transmits the memory of sunshine and the sky to Jonas.
- The Giver transmits the memory of sunburn. When he does Jonas felt a painful stinging pain in his body.
- Jonas goes to school where all the new Twelves talk about their first day of training for their given assignments at the ceremony.
- Jonas bikes to the Annez with Fiona when there he sees Fiona's hair change for a second, like what happened to him with the apple.
- The Giver transmits the memory of color to Jonas -red to be specific. That's when Jonas finds out what he saw in the apple was the color red.

Chapter 12-14

- Jonas learns the names of colors through the memories, and he begins to see things differently around him.
- The colors don't last when he looks at objects, and The Giver explains that it will take a long time before he can keep the colors.
- Jonas becomes angry because he thinks that it is unfair to have everything be the same so that people are unable to make free choices.
- The memory is very similar to the first one, but the hill is steeper and the weather is colder.
- Jonas experiences his first memory with lots of pain.
